Proposed Rambles in Ferndown: Route 2

Unfortunately due to the Corona virus problem it is inadvisable for group activities to take place. So with regret the Ferndown rambles will be put on hold. When we get the all-clear then they will recommence.  We will leave the routes and ramble descriptions here so you know there is something to look forward to!

Here’s the second proposed route for the Ferndown rambles which we hope to start in the next few months. If you missed the first in this series it is on this link.

We are lucky to have a number of members who, having lived here all their lives know all the highways and byways in the surrounding area. They can show us areas that many simply do not know exist!

We intend that routes will start and end at the Angel Inn. (so there’s a chance for a social drink afterwards and maybe before as well!) The routes will be on as far as possible level ground. The quality of the terrain will be weather dependent but they should be OK for just abut everyone with a good pair of shoes or walking boots.

Ferndown Rambles: Route Two.

Ferndown walks route 2
The proposed route for the second Ferndown Ramble.

Route two will take us from the Angel Inn up through Pompeys lane . Then there is a long stretch that goes close to Stapehill Lodge and up to near the A31 roundabout at Canford Bottom.

The route then takes us back along the B3073 to the Hampreston turn-off. It is then down through the lanes near Hanpreston School and Hampreston manor farm to the Longham Lakes. From there it the route meanders back up to the Angel Inn through Longham and Pompeys Lane

The proposal is that an informal group should arrange a date (probably in mid/late April) for this walk.

Everyone is welcome.

Please note: These Ferndown rambles are arranged as an informal gathering of friends (including you!). You join in at your own risk. There is no cost, no commitment, no guarantees and no liability. It is entirely up to you whether you tag along or not on that basis.

If you are interested in exploring Route 2 with us email the SFRA at:

Set the subject of your email to “Informal Walk Two”. Let us know who you are and we will get back to you with the date(s) for this ramble and others nearer the time.
